Power BI is online analytics software that provides senior leaders and other key staff with up-to-date headline information which can be used to initiate informed discussions, to promote active monitoring, and to identify areas of concern.
Power BI enables a user to:
• Reduce workload by developing reports and dashboards that provide immediate access to pertinent information.
• Inform decision making
• Access information easily on multiple devices.
• Promote standardisation and collaboration.
• Benchmark against national, regional and local averages.
I have really enjoyed my time working with Bridlington and Headlands developing their use of Power BI. There was an opportunity with the staff to develop their skills so they could design the visualisations and allow senior leaders the opportunity to build the key measures that they wanted to drive. We now have attendance and behaviour dashboards in place from SIMS, which update at set points in the day which will allow key staff to be more greatly informed of any emerging trends.
Our next steps with BI are to start looking at progress data connecting up to SISRA and developing the use of interventions tracking to consider their impact of those. This has not been a one way process and whilst working with the two schools it has given me the opportunity to reflect on our practice and identify areas we as a Trust could improve further. I look forward to continuing the work with Bridlington and Headlands and happy to support other schools in the future.
